ST LUKE’S COVID TIMES UPDATE – August 7, 2020
Dear St Luke’s Catholic Faith Community members
The Diocese of Parramatta has advised the following:
On consideration of the most recent NSW Health advice, the Diocese of Parramatta highly recommends all worshippers at Masses in the Diocese to wear a mask to, during and from Mass and other services.
We understand the inconvenience that masks may pose, but the health of our parishioners and the wider community is our highest concern. We sincerely thank you for understanding, and for playing your part in keeping our community safe.
We continue to be able to have 100 people at each Mass. To manage this limit we have a ticketing system (details below).
Our First Holy Communion Masses will take place at St Luke's Catholic College over the weekend of August 15 & 16. Due to the restrictions, these Masses will be reserved for those children making their first Holy Communion and their family/friends. The Sunday 10am Mass on August 16 will still be accessible via Zoom.
We continue to have two Masses each other weekend for you to attend:
- A Vigil Mass at 5.30 pm each Saturday
- Our usual Sunday morning 10 am Mass.
We will also have a Mass on Saturday, August 15 at 9am for the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also at St Luke’s Catholic College. This Mass will be available via Zoom, via the same Zoom link used for our Sunday 10 am Masses - see below.
You can book in now for all the available Masses in August using our ticketing system – see links below. If you do not have a ticket for Mass for you and those attending with you, we may unfortunately not be able to allow you to enter, as there are substantial fines if we breach the rules.
We will also be offering the Sacrament of Reconciliation twice a month – on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. However, this will now be AFTER our 5.30pm Mass, not before Mass.
If you have difficulty using our ticketing system, you are free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org . If you do so, please advise your full name, what Mass you want to attend each week (i.e. July 4 or 5, 11 or 12, 18 or 19, 25 or 26) and how many people will be attending in your group each week.
We will still be offering Mass via Zoom each Sunday at 10am for those who are unable to physically attend Mass, which can be accessed by clicking on this link
Blessings to you and your family.
Welcome to St Luke's
Catholic Faith Community
St Luke's is Australia's newest Catholic Church community, located in Marsden Park, western Sydney, within the Diocese of Parramatta.
The community came into being with the appointment of Deacon Tony Hoban as Pastoral Director on January 1, 2018. Supported by his wife, Annette, and a start-up Advisory Group, planning has begun for the life of the new community. The intention is to develop a community of intentional disciples of Jesus Christ, working in collaboration with St Luke's College. Our gathering place for Mass and other events will be at St Luke's Catholic College, Frontier Avenue, Marsden Park. We are looking for people who desire to grow in faith within a supportive community to join us.
We acknowledge that the Darug people were the original custodians of the land on which we operate. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and acknowledge the Aboriginal people for their custodianship of this land.
