WE RETURN TO ST LUKE'S CATHOLIC COLLEGE
BUT NEW PARKING ARRANGEMENTS FOR THIS WEEKEND
February 27, 2024
St Lukes Catholic Faith Community members will return to St Luke’s Catholic College this weekend.
The Principal Leader, Kelly Bauer, has advised that the College has been issued a hygienist clearance certificate following inspections confirming the site is safe.
Extensive remediation work was carried out by a licenced asbestos removal contractor under the supervision of a team of Occupational Hygienists in the Frontier Avenue Car Park garden beds and those along the outside of the hub where the contaminated mulch was identified.
This involved the removal of the vegetation, the affected mulch and the original garden soil down to natural ground level under strict hazardous materials management procedures.
Testing of the ground and surrounding areas was then conducted to ensure there is no residual contamination.
In addition, garden beds throughout the school were inspected by EPA officers and a Licensed Asbestos Assessor last week to ensure that this material was not found anywhere in any other areas of the school.
The open garden areas will be taped off to restrict access areas until the garden can be reinstated. The installation of new soil will take place this coming weekend.
That means we can access the College this weekend but will need to use the car park on Northbourne Drive, or other street parking, and access the college through Northbourne Drive entry points.
So, we will resume have Stations of the Cross on Friday night at 7pm and weekend Masses at 5.30pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday – all in the Marketplace.
Thank you to all who made the trip to St Matthew’s, Windsor, last Sunday for the St Luke’s Mass ‘in exile’.

Deacon Tony Hoban
Welcome to St Luke's
Catholic Faith Community
St Luke's is Australia's newest Catholic Church community, located in Marsden Park, western Sydney, within the Diocese of Parramatta.
The community came into being with the appointment of Deacon Tony Hoban as Pastoral Director on January 1, 2018. Supported by his wife, Annette, and a start-up Advisory Group, planning has begun for the life of the new community. The intention is to develop a community of intentional disciples of Jesus Christ, working in collaboration with St Luke's College. Our gathering place for Mass and other events will be at St Luke's Catholic College, Frontier Avenue, Marsden Park. We are looking for people who desire to grow in faith within a supportive community to join us.
We acknowledge that the Darug people were the original custodians of the land on which we operate. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and acknowledge the Aboriginal people for their custodianship of this land.
