OUR

Welcome to St Luke's
Catholic Parish Marsden Park

St Luke’s, located in Marsden Park, Western Sydney, is proud to be Australia’s newest Catholic Parish within the Diocese of Parramatta.

The community was formed on January 1, 2018, when Deacon Tony Hoban was appointed as Pastoral Director. With the support of his wife, Annette, and a dedicated Advisory Group, they began shaping a community focused on faith, discipleship, and partnership with St Luke’s Catholic College.

In 2025, Fr Gayan Thamel was appointed as the first parish priest, marking a significant milestone in the life of the community. Under his leadership, St Luke’s continues to grow as a welcoming and supportive Parish community.

Masses were once held inside St Luke’s College, but with the dedication of our parish community and support from the Diocese of Parramatta and the NSW Government, our new parish building was made possible – opened and blessed on the Feast of St Luke in October 2025.

Masses and parish events are now held in our new, purpose-built St Luke’s Catholic Parish building, located at the corner of Frontier Avenue and Northbourne Drive. Convenient car parking is available via Frontier Avenue, Marsden Park.

We invite everyone seeking to grow in faith and belong to a welcoming community to join us.

We acknowledge that the Darug people were the original custodians of the land on which we operate. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and acknowledge the Aboriginal people for their custodianship of this land.

Submit your own prayer intention or prayer of thanks

“The prayer of a righteous man (person) has great power in its effects.”
James 5:16 RSV.

Our own prayers to God for our needs can be supported and supplemented by the prayers of others.

In our St Luke’s Catholic Parish we have people (youth and other prayerful groups) willing to support you in prayer.

Prayer intentions and prayers of thanks submitted here will be sent to a one or more of these prayer groups with our Parish community.

Our Parish Prayer

O God You show us in St Luke, our patron,
a person of faith
who desired all people to come to know and love you
in the community of your Church.
Teach us to embrace what St Luke pioneered:
discipleship of Jesus Christ.
Trusting in your love and grace
and nourished by Word and Sacrament
may we grow in our relationship with you
and together make our Catholic Parish Community
a community of communities,
a sanctuary where the thirsty come to drink
in the midst of their journey,
and a centre of constant missionary outreach.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St Luke, pray for us.
St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, pray for us.
Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.

All saints and Martyrs, pray for us.

Take no part in the fruitless works of darkness; rather expose them, for it is shameful even to mention the things done by them in secret; but everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that becomes visible is light.
